The History of

Mad Shark Charters

Mad Shark Charters was founded by David Hust after a distinguished 22-year military career, carrying with him a deep sense of discipline, leadership, and purpose. While David was always an outdoorsman, fishing wasn’t just a hobby—it was a lifelong passion that ultimately led him to the water full time.

What began as that passion soon became something bigger. Mad Shark Charters was built on the idea that a day on the water should be more than just a trip—it should be an experience. An adventure. A memory worth talking about long after you’re back on shore.

David was later joined by his younger brother, Adam Hust, also a veteran, bringing the same values of service, dedication, and commitment to every charter. Together, they built a business rooted not only in skill and local knowledge, but in creating something meaningful for every guest who steps aboard.

Following David’s passing in 2023, Captain Adam continues to carry that legacy forward—honoring his brother’s vision by ensuring every trip reflects the same passion, energy, and mission Mad Shark Charters was founded on.

Today, that mission remains simple: deliver more than a fishing trip—deliver an unforgettable adventure.

Captain Adam

Adam Hust grew up, with his brother Dave, in Gore, OK. Adam would spend most of his time fishing the Illinois River and Tenkiller Lake, located just north of his home town. Captain Adam is an 8-year veteran of the United States Army where he served as a Combat Engineer. He has an incredible passion for the outdoors and can usually be found on the water or in the woods. Captain Adam has been fishing the waters around Brunswick, GA, for over 25 years. One might say that Adam has somewhat of a sixth sense when it comes to finding fish; many times, Captain Adam locates the good fishing spots when others can’t!
